How did I get to where I am?

Until 2005, I had a pretty good jo,b but I spent too much time doing that and not spending enough time doing the fun things in life, my 2004 Christmas present to myself was the then groundbreaking Canon 300d which I kept with me all the time and pointed it at lots of things and snapped. It was not long before I decided that I should actually learn how to use this thing. I read the manual and turned the camera to manual mode and started making photographs as opposed to taking them.  My first experiments were, of course rubbish, but with time, practice, and review, I quickly got the hang of making my ideas come to life.

By the spring of 2005, I was, by my own admission, getting pretty good at making photographs that I wanted to see, That summer I managed to badger a friend who was getting married to allow me to photograph his wedding under the understanding I’d not get in the way of his professional photographer. My first wedding was photographed and, a very good job it was too as the professional failed to supply any photos to my friends. By the summer, the company I worked for was going to lose its major client, meaning about an 80% reduction in the work, thus, staff would have to be let go. As middle management, I knew I’d be out, so I started to plan my future. Having a lot of equity in the house, I figured a move to Scotland could afford me the time to study photography without having to worry about an income for a while.

With the house on the market, I load all my possessions into a van and head north, off to the far north Edinburgh to be precise.

My wedding date is:
