In the heart of Robin Hood Country, Rufford Mill Country Park is a historical estate in the Nottinghamshire Dukeries, just a few miles east of well known Sherwood Forest.
Rufford Mill, at the north end of the park near the lake, delivers a stylish country venue for civil weddings and civil partnership celebrations in the Talbot Suite, on the first floor of the grade 2 listed mill building. Rufford Mill is the ideal venue for your wedding: a beautiful site, rich in history, available 7 days a week and only ever holding one ceremony on any day.
With spectacular views across the lake, natural environment and a relaxed rural atmosphere, Rufford Mill provides a marvelous backdrop to your wedding or partnership ceremony. Your wedding photographers will know the best spots for your wedding pictures using the landscape to it’s advantages.
A 15 minuet wander with your wedding photographers through woodland trails and a well kempt lawn takes you to another time with the captivating remains of Rufford Abbey, originally a Cistercian monastery built around 1170. If you take the wander through the woodlands you will come across the fascinating Ice Houses. But for brides in unique shoes and a costly dress it may pay to take advantage of the car park for the Abbey and have your driver drive you straight from your wedding for your couple pictures.
Around the Abbey ruin there are nine varied formal gardens, like a collection of rooms joined together. You might possibly wish to look out for the Rufford Herb Garden or The Rufford Sculpture Collection, which houses some interesting artworks which includes the ever popular ‘Ewe and Man on a Park Bench’ an excellent opportunity for your wedding photographers.
If you’re browsing for a venue that’s spectacular and yet not stuffy, attractive but not too formal, Rufford Mill is an ideal choice.
